Consulate General welcomes new Officer, bids goodbye to another
The Consulate General of the Philippines in Dubai welcomes the arrival of Consul Giovanni E. Palec who joined the Post 7 February 2013.
Atty. Palec started his career in the DFA in 1995. He was a practicing lawyer connected with the Fornier Lava and Fornier Law Offices and engaged in litigation, corporate and real estate law.
A graduate of BA Economics and Law from the Ateneo de Manila University, he was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1990 upon passing November 1989 bar Examinations.
His previous assignments in the Home Office are: Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Substantive Group during the Philippine hosting of the APEC meetings in 1996, Executive Officer, Maritime and Ocean Affairs Unit (1997-99), Special Assistant to the Undersecretary for Administration and as Board Secretary of the Board of Foreign Service Administration (BFSA), Acting Executive Director of the Office of Legal Affairs (OLA), Special Assistant, Board Secretary and Executive Director of OLA (2006-June 2010).
In the foreign service, he was Third Secretary and Vice-Consul and Second Secretary and Consul, Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1999-2003), Chargé d’Affaires, Philippine Embassy in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman (December 2003-May 2004), First Secretary and Consul (2004-06), First Secretary and Consul, Philippine Embassy in Wellington, New Zealand (June-November 2010), Minister and Chargé d’Affaires, Philippine Embassy in Wellington (November 2010- September 2011), and Minister (September 2011-February 2013).
The Consulate General, meanwhile, said goodbye to Welfare Officer Racquel Llagas-Kunting who left last 9 February. WelOf Kunting, for more than two (2) years, had incessantly devoted her energy to constantly, timely, and aptly perform her work that the services of her office were smoothly carried, its functions better performed, and the stakeholders well served. The Consulate General wishes her well.
